If you require a guided tour of the castle for your group, you will need to telephone and book in advance. Also available to purchase are booklets which cover the history of Dunluce Castle including dates and layouts of the many additions to its structure. The entire castle is well marked with information boards throughout. A classic photograph of tha castle can be purchase online at the North Antrim Store. The DOE Environmental Heritage Department is exceptionally good at taking care of the castle but facilities for the visitor leaves a lot to be desired. The shop has declined in its range of goods, the audio visual presentation is basic. The path down to the Mermaid's Cave is now closed due to 'apparent' rock fall but the condition of the path may be another reason as it is covered in slime from seepages from somewhere, making it very slippery. Apart from that the castle itself has a team of craftsmen who are constantly taking care of its preservation, the DOE Environmental Heritage should be given top marks for this exceptional work. |
