Submitted with reference to your signed 2140 of today. I beg to report as follows on weather conditions between Rathlin Island and Base on night of 8th-9th January 1918. Harpy passed Altacarry Light at 9.13pm, 8th January and arrived at Base at 2.40am, 9th January. Wind during this time was N.N.W. force 4-6, the night was very dark with frequent snow and sleet squalls which lasted for about a quarter of an hour at a time, the visibility during the squalls being limited to about a quarter of a mile. Moderately heavy sea swell from the northwards.
